Privacy Policy

DaycareOn ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website daycareon.com and the DaycareOn Chrome extension. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. Authentication is handled by Supabase and stored securely in their infrastructure.

Parent profile

If you choose to save a parent profile you may provide your name, phone number, home address, your child's name and date of birth, and preferences such as a preferred start date, allergies, dietary notes, or developmental support needs. This information is stored in your account and used to assess daycare fit and pre-fill daycare application forms on your behalf.

Application activity

When you mark a daycare as applied — either through the website or the Chrome extension — we store a record of that action (daycare ID, timestamp, status) linked to your account so you can track your applications in one place.

Usage data

We collect anonymised analytics (page views, search queries) to understand how the service is used and improve it. No personally identifiable information is included in these analytics.

Chrome extension

The DaycareOn Chrome extension recognizes daycare websites that match listings in our directory, shows listing and application-tracking information, assesses basic fit using the age groups and application availability recorded for that daycare, and can use your saved parent profile to auto-fill application forms when you request it. The extension:

• Reads the active tab URL and title while the extension side panel is open to determine whether the page belongs to a daycare listed in the DaycareOn directory. These values are sent to DaycareOn only for this user-facing recognition feature and are not used to build a browsing history.
• Accesses page text and form fields only after you open the extension and click "Fill application form". Chrome asks you to grant access to that specific website before the extension reads form field identifiers, labels, types, and placeholders. This field metadata and your saved profile are processed to determine appropriate field values. The extension does not submit the form for you.
• Stores authentication session tokens locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. Account and profile records remain stored in DaycareOn's service infrastructure.

AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT)

DaycareOn offers an optional connector (built on the Model Context Protocol) that lets you use Claude or ChatGPT to search the directory and, once signed in, manage your parent profile, applied-daycare tracker, or — for providers — your daycare's listing and waitlist. You opt in by connecting DaycareOn from that assistant's own settings.

• Sign-in — connecting prompts a normal browser sign-in to your existing DaycareOn account (OAuth). We never share your password with Claude, ChatGPT, or their providers.
• Access — directory search works without signing in. Signed-in tools only return data already described in this policy (your parent profile, applied daycares, or — for providers — daycares you manage) and only in response to the request you make in that conversation.
• What the provider sees — using this feature means your queries and our responses pass through that assistant's own systems (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT), governed by their respective privacy policies. We send only the data needed to answer your specific request and do not use these interactions for advertising or share them for any purpose beyond fulfilling it.
• Revoking access — disconnect the DaycareOn connector from that assistant's settings at any time to end its access to your account.

How we use your information

• To provide and personalise the DaycareOn service.
• To pre-fill daycare application forms when you request it.
• To track the status of your applications.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. application confirmations) if email is enabled.
• To improve the directory and search experience.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Information is shared only:

• With daycare providers — when you submit an application, your application details are forwarded to the relevant daycare.
• With service providers — we use Supabase for database and authentication, Vercel for hosting, and Anthropic to generate suggested form values when you use smart form filling. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the requested service.
• With AI assistant providers — if you connect DaycareOn to Claude or ChatGPT (see "AI assistants" below), Anthropic or OpenAI process the data needed to answer your requests in that conversation.
• As required by law — if compelled by a valid legal process.

Data retention

Your account and profile data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@daycareon.com.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@daycareon.com.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

DaycareOn's use and transfer of information received through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use extension data only to provide or improve the extension's daycare recognition, fit assessment, application tracking, and form-filling features. We do not use it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, or lending decisions.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
